Pilot 4.0 CDM

In order to modernise the hardboard production line and align it with the 4.0 industry, Betanzos HB has carried out the automation of the boarding line between 2017 and 2018.

With this action, progress has been made regarding the optimisation of the production process, as well as significant energy saving. In addition, the data compilation, which allows the continuation of day-to day production, has been systematised, moving towards the smart factory and obtaining a reduction in the cost. The automation of the board development has meant a qualitative leap regarding the uniformity of the product, assuming an impact on its quality.

Betanzos HB has developed these improvements by leading the consortium of nine companies from the Clúster da Madeira e o Deseño de Galicia (CMD), which has won the Second Pilot Industry 4.0 Award from the Xunta de Galicia.

This initiative is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Feder Galicia 2014-2020 operational program, and supported by the Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica (Igape) and by the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Xunta de Galicia.
