Innobiorre
Betanzos HB participated in the Innobiorre Project, which investigated, between 2016 and 2018, the appraisal of agroindustry waste to obtain high added value bioproducts in construction elements such as asphalt, bitumen or cements.
This project focused on finding innovative value-adding applications for the local wood, starting from the stream of wood extracts generated during the manufacturing process of high-density boards.
The R&D department of Betanzos HB has spent years investigating possible applications for this co-product, 100% natural and containing high value-added compounds such as lignin, tannins, polyphenols, and sugars derived from wood.
In addition of Betanzos HB, the companies Indutec, Renga Enerxia, Extraco, GalaiControl y Soutos Sativa participated in the consortium. The University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of Vigo also collaborated.
Innobiorre is co-financed by the Conecta Peme program, subsidized by the Axencia Galega de Innovación (Gain) and supported by the Consellería de Economía, Empleo e Industria de la Xunta de Galicia to encourage the cooperation between SMEs and other agents of the Sistema Galego de I+D+I, through the support of market oriented research and innovation projects, aligned with the challenges and priorities identified in the RIS3 for Galicia, co-financed by the Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) within the framework of the Feder Galicia 2014-2020 operating program.
