Betanzos HB joined the Galician forest sector in the celebration of the International Day of Forests. This year’s events took place at the Agroforestry Training Center of Sergude in Boqueixón (A Coruña), with the participation of a score of associations and entities representing the entire chain of wood.
The event started in a round table under the title ‘Bosques galegos no século da bioeconomía’, to reflect on the current importance of the Galician forest and its future within the framework of sustainable management. And with keynotes in order to highlight the development of the rural, the improvement of the environment and the progress of forestry and the forest industry in Galicia.
The morning ended with the inauguration of a Demonstration Center in the Pico Sacro de Lestedo. Twenty hectares managed by the Forest Association of Galicia, which has the support of several partners from the University of Santiago, the Forest Research Center of Lourizán and the Conservation Association of the Galego Forest Ecosystem, as well as the Inditex group. In addition, it will operates as a School of Forestry that will allow forest communities, forestry and technical properties to know new methods of planting and bests parctices of pruning or mixed use of quality wood and the exploitation of crops and fruits of the forest.
Betanzos HB participates in this project as a member of the Cluster of Madeira e o Deseño de Galicia.
