The partners of the EcoTimber Cell project, among which are the University of Santiago de Compostela, the companies Betanzos HB and 3edata, the CETEMAS research centre, and the ITEC institute, have just released the catalogue and technical sheets of our Tablex (high density fibreboard 100% wood) highlighting its use for sustainable construction thanks to its mechanical and humidity resistance, and reaction to fire qualities.
Our Tablex, obtained from certified scrap wood by means of a sustainable forest management, stands out as a 100% biodegradable product where the wood’s own lignin works as natural glue for the bonding of wood fibres, avoiding the use of artificial joining agents present in other wooden boards.
The detailed knowledge of Tablex properties is a key activity for the correct development of the cell which is being studied in the EcoTimberCell and EcoTimberCell + project, as well as of the rest of the products derived from it that will lead to ETC Homes, modular homes to encourage the demand for local wood from sustainable forest management.
The partners collaborating in this project, the University of Santiago de Compostela, the companies Betanzos HB and 3edata, the CETEMAS research centre, and the ITEC institute, are working in the development of actions aimed at obtaining a fibreboard adapted to EcoTimberCell structural systems with improved mechanical and humidity resistance, and reaction to fire qualities.
Complete characterization for structural use
In order to know the board in depth, it is necessary to carry out a complete characterization campaign that includes tests to determine its physical and mechanical properties.
The results reflected in the document that is now being published are made available to the general public for better understanding the TABLEX board by Betanzos HB, its applicability in structural elements for construction and how progress is being made towards EcoTimberCell modular systems: the ETC Homes.
The catalogue shows the main results obtained covering the following properties: thermal conductivity, humidity, density, water vapour permeability, resistance, flexural, tensile, shear and compression strength.
